About Ayurveda

Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicinal science based on natural and holistic living. The name has been derived from two Sanskrit words “Ayu” or life, and “Veda” or knowledge. This Science of Life analyses the human body through a combination of the body, mind and spirit.

Ayurveda originates from nearly about 5,000 years ago. But even today, its application in modern life is growing through the scientific research being carried out in most parts of the world.

Ayurveda provides guidance for positive health without having any side or ill effects. Its treatment and techniques is most flexible for people with health challenges in a natural way. Ayurveda has explained the functional complexity of human body, by propounding few basic doctrines. These doctrines visualize the functional units of the body to be formed by:

Three Dosha (humours),

Seven Dhatu (tissues), and

Mala (metabolic end products).

The above 3 elements work in equilibrium towards good health of human body.

Good Time for Herbal Products / Medicines

The last decade or so have been a good time span for herbal medicines, with lot of research being done and products been introduced in the global markets.

The importance of herbal products can be easily estimated by figures that, China is selling herbal products worth over U.S. Dollars 1.7 billion out of which developed countries like United States alone imports these products worth close to U.S. Dollars 400 million.

In the United States the sales of Herbal medicines increased about 15 percent while the increase in the sale of pharmaceutical preparation is around 4 percent. The similar kind of growth is expected in global markets for the
herbal products/medicines.

Moreover many of the big pharmaceutical MNCs are now also carrying research on herbal medicines.

The most important features of Herbal products are its safety and no ill effects; also the regular use of these herbal medicines boosts the performance of the human body. Herbs like Ocimum sanctum (Tulsi), Asparagus recemousus (Shatavari) and Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha) are well known to improve health. Even the common Azadirachta indica (Neem) and Emblica officinalis (Amla) are of great significance towards blood purification and digestion respectively.
